Cambria County's strategic location, within 300 miles of 75 million people, is backed by an ever-improving, solid transportation network. U.S. Route 219 runs north/south from Som erset County, linking it to the Pennsylvania Turnpike ( Interstate 76, approximately 30 minutes from southern Cambria County) to nothern Cambria County where it connects with Interstate 80 in DuBois. This major link is a four-lane, limited-access highway from Somerset in the south to Carrolltown in the north. Plans are now on the drawing board to complete route 219 in Cambria County in the near future.

U.S. Route 22 runs east/west through the county - a vital connection with Pittsburgh to the west (approximately 75 miles) and Harrisburg to the east.

The Johnstown/Cambria County Airport provides commuter service on a regular basis to the Pittsburgh International Airport, where it links passengers to more than 300 domestic and international flights daily. This airport, along with a private airport in t he Ebensburg area, provide private and corporate aircraft accomodations.

Rail service is provided in Cambria County by Conrail and the Chessie System (CSX). Conrail, the major east/west carrier in the state has over 3,300 route miles.

Within a day's trucking , companies in Cambria County can serve major metropolitan areas such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Richmond, Baltimore, Washington D.C., New York City, Harrisburg, Erie, Buffalo, Philadelphia, as well as many other major cities. With the new free trade agreements between the U.S. and Canada, Cambria County's strategic location becomes an even more valuable commodity.
